Il presidente dell’ente nazionale circhi: «primo martire dell’odio animalista contro i circhi». Il Partito animali: «Spiaciuti ma denunceremo strumentalizzazioni»
È morto due giorni dopo la lite con gli animalisti anti-circo uno dei leader del «circo di Praga». Roberto Gerardi, 55 anni, domenica pomeriggio aveva affrontato il presidio animalista fuori dal suo tendone montato a due passi dal casello autostradale di Rovato (Bs), rispondendo alle accuse di maltrattamento nei confronti degli animali; perdendo le staffe e azzuffandosi con un rappresentante del Partito protezione animali. Poco dopo ha avuto un infarto ed è stato ricoverato all’ospedale di Chiari. Dove è morto nel pomeriggio di martedì 18 marzo.
Il litigio
Domenica 16 marzo il fatto. Da tre giorni gli animalisti presidiano il circo con cartelli e slogan contro lo sfruttamento degli animali. Roberto risponde ricordando la tradizione circense. Difende il lavoro della famiglia, megafono alla megafono. Gli animalisti alzano i toni ed il dosaggio delle offese, Roberto perde le staffe e si scaglia su un animalista, colpendolo al volto. Un manifestante filma il tutto e segue la denuncia del Partito animali: « Un nostro volontario si è visto scagliare un pugno in pieno viso da un addetto alla struttura che è stato poi allontanato dagli stessi attivisti prima che la situazione degenerasse». La cognata di Roberto racconta al Corriere il seguito di quello scontro: «Roberto dopo quell’aggressione ha avuto un infarto ed è stato ricoverato in gravissime condizioni all’ospedale di Chiari. Lo sappiano gli animalisti, che tengono più alla salute degli animali che a quella degli uomini. Due di loro tutti i giorni volantinano contro il nostro lavoro all’interno dello spazio occupato e pagato dal Circo di Praga. Non gli abbiamo mai detto nulla. Roberto domenica rispondeva alle loro pesantissime offese ricordando al pubblico che i circensi non sono criminali, ma amano gli animali e non li maltrattano. E’ stato aggredito con una serie di parole impronunciabili». Pochi minuti dopo Roberto sta male. Malissimo. I parenti lo portano all’ospedale di Chiari. Entra in coma. Morirà dopo 48 ore.
L’accusa dei circensi: «martire dell’odio animalista»
Pesante la reazione del presidente dell’ente nazionale circhi, Antonio Buccioni, per il quale Roberto «è il primo martire dell’odio animalista contro i circhi». Rincarano la dose i componenti della grande famiglia del circo di Praga: quelle offese pesantissime lanciategli dagli animalisti e che lo hanno accusato di far soffrire gli animali, «gli hanno crepato il cuore».
Gli animalisti: «dispiaciuti, ma evitiamo strumentalizzazioni»
Per il presidente del Partito animali Fabrizio Catelli si tratta di una tragica fatalità e rigetta «strumentalizzazioni». In una nota stampa scrive: «Apprendiamo con sincero rammarico il lutto che ha colpito la famiglia Gerardi. Il partito protezione animali non accetta in alcun modo strumentalizzazioni finalizzate a distorcere i fatti accaduti per i quali rendiamo disponibili sin d’ora, a tutte le autorità che ne faranno richiesta, tutte le immagini video in nostro possesso. Precisiamo che il perdurare di pesanti accuse nei nostri confronti verranno denunciate alla magistratura». Tutti i presidi anti-circo sono stati sospesi. In segno di lutto.
