L’epidemia di influenza aviaria ad alta patogenicità sta impegnando senza sosta i servizi veterinari dell’Ulss 9 Scaligera, messi a dura prova anche dalla concomitanza delle ferie estive. Dopo i focolai di Albaredo d’Adige e Nogara, che hanno richiesto un monitoraggio a tappeto della situazione epidemiologica, con prelievi e tamponi tracheali nei tanti allevamenti avicoli presenti nel veronese, costringendo anche a mettere in atto massicce operazioni di abbattimento in via preventiva, il terzo focolaio confermato ad Erbè, in un allevamento di tacchini da carne, ricade anche quello in una zona ad alta concentrazione di allevamenti di polli e tacchini.
“Nel corso dell’Unità di crisi di mercoledì – spiega Stefano Adami, direttore del Servizio di Sanità animale dell’ex Ulss 22, nel cui territorio ricade il terzo focolaio – si è deciso di procedere all’abbattimento preventivo di 170mila polli, circa 500 tonnellate”. Un’operazione importante che richiede l’intervento di ditte specializzate che dovranno anche smaltire le carcasse, sotto la supervisione dei servizi veterinari. “La difficoltà sta nel reperire le aziende, già impegnate fino ad ora con gli abbattimenti nelle zone intorno ai focolai della Bassa, per compiere queste operazioni in breve tempo, anche a causa delle alte temperature di questi giorni. Contiamo di completare gli abbattimenti in un periodo di 3-5 giorni” osserva Adami.
Gli abbattimenti nel focolaio di H5N8 ad alta patogenicità di Erbè, in tutto circa 13mila tacchini, 6.500 nell’azienda colpita e altrettanti in una vicina a contatto, erano stati ultimati nella notte tra martedì e mercoledì.
“Alle attività di monitoraggio, con una mole di campioni molta elevata da effettuare, stanno prendendo parte tutti i veterinari presenti delle aree A e C e, vista l’eccezionalità del momento, anche alcune unità del Servizio Igiene degli alimenti – afferma -. Oltre all’aviaria, è il caldo eccezionale poi a complicare l’emergenza. Basta il blocco di un ventilatore a causare serie conseguenze. Negli allevamenti avicoli i volatili stanno morendo per le condizioni climatiche e gli allevatori chiedono aiuto per smaltire le carcasse che presto produrrebbero odori nauseanti”.
Ad aggravare la situazione il fatto che le tute protettive e i tamponi per i prelievi sugli avicoli in uso ai servizi veterinari cominciano a scarseggiare e non è semplice riuscire a reperirne nel momento in cui molti fornitori sono chiusi per le ferie estive.
Certo, nonostante tutto, l’esperienza acquisita in oltre 15 anni di epidemie che si sono susseguite è di aiuto all’operato dei servizi veterinari e della filiera, ma l’attenzione resta altissima. Anche il minimo segnale va affrontato tempestivamente per evitare l’ulteriore diffusione: il virus può colpire altri allevamenti e costringere ad altri abbattimenti.
Il caso di Erbè si aggiunge a un lungo elenco di allevamenti risultati infetti nel Veronese. A febbraio si era verificato il primo caso a Gazzo, poi a San Bonifacio, Albaredo e la settimana scorsa a Nogara dove sono stati soppressi oltre 40 mila capi.
Intanto ieri il presidente della Regione Luca Zaia ha firmato un’ordinanza imponendo misure restrittive, con azioni da mettere in atto e divieti, e istituendo una zona di protezione e una di sorveglianza in seguito al focolaio di Nogara. In queste aree saranno censiti allevamenti e capi e saranno effettuati controlli veterinari.
La zona «rossa», ossia quella di protezione ricomprende alcune aree dei comuni della zona sud-occidentale della provincia: oltre a Nogara, Isola della Scala, Salizzole, Sorgà e Erbè.
Più ampia la zona di Sorveglianza, che include alcune parti dei comuni di Gazzo, Concamarise, Erbè, Bovolone, San Pietro di Morubio, Sanguinetto, Trevenzuolo, Oppeano e Cerea, oltre ad alcune zone dei comuni che rientrano anche in quella di protezione. Tra i provvedimenti della zona più ristretta c’è l’obbligo, per le aziende, di trasferire tutto il pollame e tutti gli altri volatili in cattività all’interno di un solo edificio dell’azienda. Lo scopo è quello di ridurre al minimo i contatti con gli altri volatili. Per lo stesso motivo nessun capo può entrare o uscire dagli allevamenti e le carcasse devono essere distrutte quanto prima.
Il 2 agosto l’IZSVe ha confermato un’altra positività per un virus influenzale tipo A sottotipo H5 in un allevamento di tacchini da carne maschi di 91 giorni in provincia di Parma. La positività è stata riscontrata a seguito della segnalazione di un aumento della mortalità. Questo allevamento, dov’erano presenti circa 26.500 tacchini, era già stato sede di focolaio nell’inverno scorso (confermato il 2 febbraio ed estinto il 9 febbraio 2017).
Infine, il 2 agosto è stata confermata da parte del CRN dell’IZSVe una positività per virus influenzale tipo A sottotipo H5, in un pool di organi prelevati da anatre selvatiche rinvenute morte presso un laghetto nella provincia di Pavia.
Il 3 agosto, tutti i tre casi di Influenza Aviaria confermati il 2 agosto (a Erbè, Sorbolo e Pavia) sono stati caratterizzati dal Centro di Referenza Nazionale (CRN) come virus influenzale sottotipo H5N8 ad alta patogenicità.
