La maglia nera tra i comuni veneziani spetta a Fiesso d’Artico, che arriva al 66 per cento di decessi in più rispetto a quelli verificatisi in media nei cinque anni precedenti. Più impressionante, per territorio e numero di abitanti, il dato veneziano: 15 per cento in più. Un numero che, uscendo dal freddo gergo matematico, ha tutt’altro impatto: 4.017 vite spezzate nell’anno della pandemia rispetto alle 3.416 del 2019.
La lunga lista di dati è il racconto in numeri di un anno di pandemia e del suo impatto sui decessi nella città metropolitana. Questa è l’elaborazione dell’eccesso di mortalità del 2020 che il demografo veneziano Stefano Mazzuco, docente del Dipartimento di Scienze Statistiche all’Università di Padova, ha calcolato sulla base degli ultimi dati Istat sulla mortalità nazionale, aggiornati a dicembre e pubblicati in questi giorni.
L’impatto è considerevole per i comuni della Riviera e del miranese. Proprio Mirano con i suoi 392 morti contro i 325 del 2019, ha un eccesso di mortalità del 34,5 per cento. Subito dopo c’è Mira, le cui 471 vittime sono il 28 per cento in più (un centinaio di persone in numeri assoluti) dell’anno precedente. Importante anche il numero di perdite a Scorzé, dove nel 2020 sono morte 195 persone contro le 165 di un anno fa, con un aumento di mortalità sulla media del quinquennio del 23 per cento. A Chioggia il dato dei decessi supera gli anni precedenti del 14 per cento, a San Donà del 13. «Il dato percentuale dipende dalla densità di popolazione del singolo comune, è chiaro che nei paesi di piccole dimensioni la percentuale aumenta facilmente. E’ comunque impressionante osservare l’aumento di decessi di quest’anno – afferma Mazzuco – in particolare nel picco della seconda ondata, quello verificatosi a dicembre, molto più rilevante anche a confronto di quanto accaduto a marzo e aprile». I dati Istat pubblicati venerdì hanno completato il quadro del 2020 con la mortalità di dicembre.
Nell’ultimo mese dell’anno, con picchi di 700 nuovi contagi al giorno e il triste traguardo dei mille morti per Coronavirus raggiunto il giorno di Natale, anche a Venezia l’asticella del numero dei decessi si è alzata drasticamente. «Solo per dicembre l’eccesso di mortalità raggiunge una percentuale a tre cifre per tredici comuni, tra cui Mirano (+132%), Dolo (+116%), Noale (+115%), Scorzé (+153%). Significa che i decessi sono più che raddoppiati — fa notare Mazzuco — il comune di Venezia arriva a registrare il 60 per cento dei decessi in più». Ci sono però cinque comuni — Fossò, San Michele al Tagliamento, San Stino di Livenza, Annone Veneto e Cona — con il segno meno. «Qui la mortalità è stata inferiore – conferma Mazzuco – dobbiamo ricordare che molte attività e molti spostamenti si sono fermati, la gente si è mossa di meno, pensiamo ad esempio anche al calo degli incidenti stradali
