Il Food and Veterinary Office della Commissione europea ha ospitato il secondo incontro degli Esperti europei finalizzato alla produzione di un documento di rete per migliorare il benessere del pollame durante il trasporto.
Si tratta di un documento guida destinato in particolare alle Autorità Competenti, ma non solo, che vuole indicare standard, usando esempi ricavati dalle attuali fonti di informazione e conoscenza, da esperienze pratiche, e dalle ultime novità in campo scientifico.
Lo sviluppo del documento ha permesso di identificare i vari componenti dei processi di cattura, manipolazione e trasporto del pollame, che maggiormente impattano sul benessere degli uccelli prima della macellazione.
Il documento infomerà le Autorità competenti, i loro operatori e altri enti, sulla natura e sulle cause dei principali rischi del benessere degli animali nel corso dei passaggi immediatamente precedenti la macellazione. Le informazioni fornite potranno guidare le Autorità competenti e gli altri enti nell’identificazione e nella raccolta di prove scientifiche che potranno supportare ogni attività volta al miglioramento del benessere animale.
L’attuazione delle strategie per la riduzione del rischio, descritte nel documento, potranno essere un prodotto vincente per migliorare il benesssere degli uccelli e dare impulso ai ritorni economici degli operatori commerciali.
Il gruppo pensa di finalizzare il documento prima dell’estate e di distribuirlo subito dopo.
