I Pfas, le sostanze di origine chimica la cui presenza era già nota nelle acque di falda e superficiali dell’area fra le province di Verona, Vicenza e Padova, hanno contaminato animali e prodotti agricoli del territorio. Ad affermarlo è il consigliere regionale Andrea Zanoni, del Pd, il quale spiega che i monitoraggi compiuti dalle Ulss certificano che i perfluoro-alchilici sono stati rilevati, con livelli superiori al livello di attenzione, in vari elementi destinati al consumo umano. Immediati i chiarimenti dell’assessore Luca Coletto: «Le conseguenze dell‘inquinamento da Pfas in alcuni Comuni delle Ullss Ovest Vicentino, Vicenza, Monselice, Verona e Legnago, determinate da uno sversamento aziendale di competenza della Magistratura, sono costantemente monitorate dai tecnici della Regione. I campionamenti sono già stati tutti inviati all’Istituto Superiore di Sanità, con il quale collaboriamo sin dall’inizio della vicenda, per avere e concordare una valutazione di rischio e le eventuali contromosse da prendere»

Pfas, contaminata anche la catena alimentare: “Subito chiarezza, individuare la fonte dell’inquinamento e punire i responsabili”
Su richiesta dell’Istituto Superiore di Sanità la Giunta regionale con delibera n. 1570 del 26 agosto 2014 disponeva che, entro il 30 giugno 2015, doveva essere completato un programma di campionamento sugli alimenti di produzione locale per ricerca di sostanze perfluoroalchiliche (PFASs), in una vasta area del vicentino, veronese e padovano, interessata da un diffuso inquinamento delle acque potabili e di falda da queste sostanze.
Il Consigliere regionale e Vice Presidente della Commissione Ambiente, Andrea Zanoni, ha chiesto che fine avessero fatto questi monitoraggi, effettuati dai Servizi veterinari e Sian delle Ulss, ed ora gli uffici della Regione (sezione Sicurezza Alimentare) hanno risposto allegando 10 tabelle piene di dati, relative a ben 210 analisi effettuate tra novembre del 2014 e giugno 2015, nei territori delle ULSS n.5 – Ovest Vicentino, ULSS n.6 – Vicentino, ULSS n.17 – Monselice, ULSS n.20 – Verona e ULSS n. 21 – Legnago.
Le analisi, che hanno ricercato nel dettaglio PFOA, PFOS e PFBA, sono state effettuate su campioni appartenenti a: foraggi, pesci di diverse specie (Carpa, Trota, Cavedano, Pesce gatto, Scardola, Carpa Carassio), uccelli di allevamenti di diverse specie (Pollo, Tacchino, Fagiano, Faraona, Anatra), mammiferi di allevamento di diverse specie (Bovini, Ovini e Caprini); verdure (tra le quali insalata, bieta, carote, patate, pan di zucchero, asparagi, ravanelli, radicchio) e uova di gallina.
Dalla risposta indirizzata a Zanoni si legge che: “Da una prima valutazione i valori riscontrati per PFOS e PFOA si presentano più elevati rispetto ad alcuni dati presenti in bibliografia, peraltro ascrivibili a scenari diversi e non associati a specifiche criticità ambientali”. Dalle tabelle allegate emerge che le analisi che superano il livello di attenzione, e denunciano una contaminazione da sostanze perfluoroalchiliche con concentrazioni superiori a 1 microgrammo per chilo, si riferiscono in particolare ai PFOS (perfluorottano sulfonato) presenti su 33 campioni, mentre gli sforamenti per i PFOA (acido perfluoroottanoico) sono presenti su 4 campioni e PFBA (Acido PerfluoroButanoico) su 3 campioni.
I campioni sui quali sono stati trovati i PFASs per un valore variabile da 1 a ben 57,4 microgrammi/kilogrammo (ug/kg) riguardano in particolare: 11 campioni di uova prelevate in tutti i territori di competenza delle 5 ULSS, 10 campioni di pesce in tutte le 5 ULSS, 9 campioni di bovini prelevati in 4 ULSS, 2 campioni di insalata in due ULSS, 1 campione di bieta, foraggio, pollo, fagiano, capra in una ULSS.
Sorprendono in particolare i 57,4 ug/kg di una Scardola prelevata a Creazzo nel fiume Cassacina, i 18,4 ug/kg di una Carpa prelevata a Creazzo, i 33,9 ug/kg di un pesce prelevato nel fiume Fratta a Cologna Veneta e i 21,2 ug/kg su un uovo di un allevamento domestico munito di pozzo di Cologna Veneta. Gli altri campioni positivi ai PFASs provengono dai comuni di Lonigo, Grancona, Sarego, Sovizzo, Altavilla Vicentina, Creazzo, Pegognana, Montagnana, Villa Estense, Megliadino San Fidenzio, Megliadino San Vitale, Arcole, Zimella, Minerbe, Legnago, Cologna Veneta, Oppeano, Terrazzo, Bevilacqua
Di fronte a dati di questo tipo evidentemente è necessaria un’interpretazione che la Regione ha comunicato di aver affidato al Ministero della Salute e all’Istituto Superiore di Sanità, tanto che nella risposta indirizzata a Zanoni si legge che: “sono stati investiti per ottenere la produzione di una valutazione del rischio alimentare, ed ambientale, per questo gruppo di sostanze evidenziate in prodotti diversi tra loro”, “Trattandosi comunque di questione estremamente delicata e complessa da valutare in termini tecnici, richiedendo specifiche competenze che possono definire in modo autorevole l’effettiva valenza del problema”.
La difficoltà di una valutazione effettiva del rischio alimentare e ambientale, risiede nel fatto che, allo stato, non esistono disposizioni di legge, non solo a livello comunitario, ma anche nazionale o internazionale, che disciplinino in qualche modo la presenza di Pfas negli alimenti. Sono stati individuati valori soglia solo per le acque potabili e tali valori, peraltro, differiscono da paese a paese.
Zanoni ha cosi commentato la contaminazione da PFASs della catena alimentare: “I risultati delle analisi sono sorprendenti perché purtroppo confermano la diffusione e la presenza dei PFASs nei territori di tutte e cinque le ULSS ed in tutte le matrici alimentari. Queste sostanze non dovrebbero essere presenti in nessun alimento ed invece le troviamo pressoché in tutta la catena alimentare segno che probabilmente l’acqua inquinata le ha veicolate ovunque. Ora bisogna attendere la lettura che daranno le autorità sanitarie nazionali su questi dati ed attendere i risultati dei biomonitoraggi effettuati sui prelievi del sangue dei cittadini. Le autorità europee e nazionali dovrebbero prevedere dei valori massimi da imporre per legge oltre che per l’acqua anche per gli alimenti. In ogni caso resto sempre del parere che i responsabili di questo inquinamento che ha interessato ben tre province del Veneto e decine di comuni dovrebbero essere individuati, sanzionati e oggetto di richiesta di risarcimento dei danni.”
Zanoni sta seguendo l’evolversi della vicenda dell’inquinamento da PFASs da alcuni anni e in passato ha presentato un’interrogazione alla Commissione Europea, ora è in attesa di una risposta dalla Giunta Regionale per un’interrogazione presentata lo scorso 26 ottobre

“Le conseguenze dell’inquinamento da Pfas in alcuni Comuni delle Ullss Ovest Vicentino, Vicenza, Monselice, Verona e Legnago, determinate da uno sversamento aziendale di competenza della Magistratura, sono costantemente monitorate dai tecnici della Regione. I campionamenti sono già stati tutti inviati all’Istituto Superiore di Sanità, con il quale collaboriamo sin dall’inizio della vicenda, per avere e concordare una valutazione di rischio e le eventuali contromosse da prendere”.
Lo sottolinea l’Assessore regionale alla Sanità Luca Coletto, in relazione alle preoccupazioni circolanti circa la contaminazione da queste sostanze di animali e alimenti.
“Dopo aver immediatamente messo in sicurezza tutti i sistemi acquedottistici che prelevano le acque superficiali e sollecitato con insistenza i titolari di pozzi privati a fare le analisi – ricorda Coletto – abbiamo messo in atto due approfondimenti significativi, sulle persone, sugli animali e sugli alimenti, proprio perché non deve esserci nemmeno un’ombra di dubbio”.
L’Assessore specifica che si tratta di un monitoraggio con prelievo di sangue effettuato alle persone residenti nell’area interessata e a persone certamente non coinvolte, in modo di avere un termine di paragone estremamente approfondito; e di prelievo altrettanto diffusi, seppur naturalmente a campione sugli animali e sugli alimenti.
“Entrambi gli esiti – dice Coletto – sono all’attenzione degli esperti del più elevato interlocutore scientifico d’Italia che è l’Istituto Superiore di Sanità. Nessuna indicazione che ne deriverà verrà sottovalutata e le azioni che verranno eventualmente indicate saranno tempestivamente messe in atto di concerto con l’Iss. Senza un’evidenza scientifica – conclude Coletto – è difficile immaginare di fare più di ciò che è già stato fatto e appena questa arriverà ci comporteremo di conseguenza. L’attendiamo in tempi molto brevi”.
